Reading is such a foundational skill - don’t let it fade over the summer!

Here are 6 tips for boosting reading this summer with your elementary student…

🍉 Plan outings around your reading (or vice versa).

🍉 Make the library part of your summer routine.

🍉 Dive into Shakespeare and try memorising some lines… and acting them out!

🍉 Get creative with when you do family read-alouds.

🍉 Don’t forget audiobooks for those long car rides.

🍉 Help your independent reader set goals for the summer… and consider rewarding her with book money if she meets her goals.

We started science when we started school...

🥀 My daughter’s imagination is wild - from aliens and zombies (thank you, dad) to enchanted roses and mythical creatures.

🪐 She can start to comprehend what an atom is and how the solar system functions.

📚 I don’t assume something is too difficult and wait on it until she’s “older”. We just start with fundamentals and build up from there.

👧🏼👦🏼 It never ceases to amaze me how much even very young children can comprehend.

My son is officially starting Suzuki cello lessons

My son is officially starting Suzuki cello lessons soon and that means…. Cardboard cello!

It’s a tradition going back to Shinichi Suzuki himself. Children have the opportunity to learn how to handle a very expensive and fragile instrument.

This will be what my 3-year-old son uses to learn things like posture and proper handling before we start renting the real deal.
